2016's Yard Haunt (Night)

2016: Haunted Farm

2016 was a special year for Haunted Hill. After a decade of absence, the haunt returned to its old stamping ground. It was a return welcomed by the family and neighborhood. While the farm looked vibrantly festive during the day (see those pictures here), it developed a sinister appearance at night.

About Haunted Hill, Inc.

Haunted Hill, Inc. began in the early 2000s when my little brother and I stumbled on a yard haunt blocks away from our house. It was mesmerizing: the rising silhouettes of tombstones and static props cast against the spectral dance of fog and strobe lights. The following Halloween, we attempted to emulate that eerie scene. Although it started with cardboard coffins and tombstones crafted from scraps of wood, it gradually matured into an elaborate spectacle anticipated by the entire neighborhood. We learned how to build our own props and develop intricate themes. College came, we both moved out of our parents’ house, and Haunted Hill, Inc. crept silently into the darkness, forgotten for a brief span of time. Now, though, it has reemerged with dynamic force and, although my little brother is no longer part of the process, this blog is a means to celebrate its long-awaited resurrection. I will post how-to instructions for costumes and props, along with pictures, poems, and quotes to inspire your haunted imagination.
